Psou is one of the two border crossings in Abkhazia (the other being on the south). From Psou abkhazi cross the border with Russia. The big trolleys are filled with mandarines, Abkhazia's mouch sought after vegetable currency at this time of the year.
At Russia's passport control there's turmoil during the mandarine and orange season. Many abkhazi live from the money they earn selling citruis fruit they produce, but the only way not to pay custom duties is to limit the amount exported to Russia per single crossing. Thus, long queues of people pulling carts full of citrus fruits swarm the passport control zones, and verbal quarrels on precedence often ensue.
Once they pass the russian border, mandarins and citrus fruits are sold to wholesaler just on the other side of the fence.
